The Jo Ann Medical Center continues to work in close cooperation with foreign colleagues.

Today, on January 31, Dr. Miguel Valderrabano – Head of the cardiac electrophysiology department at Houston Methodist Hospital, has arrived in Tbilisi.  Dr. Valderrabano together with his Georgian colleague – Dr. Giorgi Papiashvili, Head of the arrhythmology department at the Jo Ann Medical Center will perform complex ablation procedures in pre-selected patients.  Ablation procedures are planned in a hard-to-reach area of the heart, where standard ablation is not possible.

The Professor Valderrabano’s method involves accessing the arrhythmia foci deep in the heart muscle through the small branches of the cardiac venous system and injecting alcohol to chemically destroy the bad tissue.

Jo Ann Medical Center (JAMC) is pleased to announcing a vacancy for the position of Quality Document Control Specialist.

In the Center the medical conference was held on the following topics:

·         Screening of heart congenital pathologies in antenatal period

·         Fetal arrhythmias

·         Arrhythmias  during pregnancy

 

A main purpose of the conference was to inform gynecologists and radiologists about reduction of newborn mortality and increasing life expectancy with the heart congenital pathologies.

The conference was attended by the doctors living in Tbilisi also in regions.

The workshop continued for four days (from 24 - till27 October)

At the end of the conference, the doctors were given certificates.

This event was the first time conducted in JAMC and will continue permanently.

The Jo Ann medical Center hosted a four-day conference.

Dr. Mete Duren, Head of the European Endocrinologist Surgery Association – Member of the board of directors of the International Endocrinologist Surgery Association visited the Jo Ann Medical Center for the second time this year on May 26th.  The patients of the Center were be able to benefit from the unique opportunity and admitted to consultation with the world-renowned endocrinologist –surgeon.

 On June 1, Jo Ann Medical Center celebrated Children’s International Day. During the day, the small patients of the clinic received gifts, toys and hygiene items.

The four-day  medical conference has already accomplished at Jo Ann Medical Center. From June 5 to  June 8, 2018 the JAMC hosted by a representatives of a various medical institutions.  Several medical issues were discussed during the meeting:

1.      “ A reproductive health of Children and adolescents”   The speaker was a JAMC gynecologists –  Dr. Eter Margalitadze;

 

2.      “Why do we need an ultrasound research in neonatal and pediatric patient?”  The Speaker was -   Dr. Elene Gotsiridze;

 

3.      “Diagnosticate of Heart congenital defects in Children” – The clinic’s cardiologists  Dr. Lilia Kapanadze and  Dr. Eka Kapanadze were talked about the topic.

 

4.      “When is a fetal echocardiogram necessary?” – The speaker was cardiologist Dr. Giorgi Todria.

 At the end of the conference all participants were awarded with certificates. The Jo Ann Medical Center is grateful to all the guests and promise many interesting events in the nearest future.

On November 21 -23 the Jo Ann Medical Center was visited by the President of American Charity Organization – Global Healing, Mr. John Donnelly. It should be noted that Global Healing have   active cooperation with JAMC  for 25 years already and it’s  considered as the main partner   of the Jo Ann Medical Center.  Exactly with its efforts  several important projects were implemented in Georgia. In particular, the idea of founding cardiac surgery program of congenital heart defects at Jo Ann medical Center was successfully implemented in 1996. Faithfully, that program has become a major cause of thousands of children surviving their lives. On September 18th 2000, first Blood Bank focusing on modern western standards was established in Georgia. Global Healing actively continues  it’s great support towards to Jo Ann Medical Center. In the frame of his visit, Mr. Donnelly has discussed the issues about new, Georgian – American medical project details with the leaderships of the Center.

The project implies creating the Children’s Oncology Center in Georgia.  The Center will start functioning at the Jo Ann Medical Center.  The Quality control of treatment at the Children’s oncology Center, as well as training process of medical staff  will be continuously implemented by the expert group from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, leaded by Professor Carlos Rodriguez – Galindo. 

Most important fact in this project is that, United States Agency for international development (USAID) has assigned a grant for financing abovementioned very significant project.

Medical project, supported by such a prominent organizations as they are: Global Healing, USAID - (United States agency for International development), St. Jude Children’s research Hospital, is really unprecedented occasion for Georgia.  The Jo Ann Medical Center has already been functioning 22 years fruitfully right behind to Georgian Healthcare System! According that we might have boldly declared that  such a meaningful initiatives will enable little patients to get high quality treatment exactly that in Georgia. And it is again and again thousands of children’s lives will be survived!
