Thanks to our American partners
With the support of the American people and the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Georgia is now much closer to solving the problem of pediatric oncology in the country.
Mutual project of a US based charity organization Global Healing and Jo Ann University Hospital won the USAIDs 2017/2018 ASHA (American Schools and Hospitals Abroad) program grant, which funded a significant part of the construction works needed to develop the first comprehensive pediatric oncology center in Georgia.
Our main partner and mentor providing the medical expertise is Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital – a global leader in pediatric oncology. With their expertise, training, sharing of the best practices, protocols and research networks we have been developing a state-of-the art childrens cancer center.
It is worth noting that Jo Ann University Hospital already has a comparable experience. 27 years ago with a similar support of our American partners (Global healing and Boston Medical Center) Jo Ann University Hospital created the first pediatric heart surgery center in Georgia. Since then, it has been operating at the highest standard of care possible in the field.
We would like to sincerely thank our partners! We hope that with our mutual effort, we will be able to reach the common goal – Every child in Georgia that encounters an oncological disease will have access to the highest quality medical care within their own country.
